Educational instructor by trade, Vaggelis Kandalepas is a native of, and currently resides in Thessaloniki, Greece.
He started with classical guitar and photography which lead to the strengthening of his artistic and creative unrest. Now, in addition, and for the past few years, he is dealing systematically with mosaics which have always fascinated him, and have become a passion.
His artwork is crafting with marble tiles and stones, illustrating with historicity and unique beauty, his mosaic masterpieces, all framed with wood.
The artist’s main themes are traditional island scenes and the unique architecture of northern mainland Greece.
Broken crushed stones, combined beautifully with wood, metal and powders, yield a unique three-dimensional aesthetic effect, exploiting the beauty and detail of each individual art piece.
